What is a annual emergency light test?

A test for the full rated duration of the emergency lights must be carried out. The emergency lights must still be working at the end of this Three Hour Test.

The results of this test must be recorded and if failures are detected, these must be remediated as soon as possible.

Is it a legal requirement?

Simply Yes it is.

Should the worse happen and a fire breaks out, emergency lights are a critical part of ensuring everyone on-site is able to safely evacuate your business in the event of a power failure. As such, every business is legally required to ensure their emergency lights are tested at least once a month by a sufficiently trained member of staff and once a year by a competent person  - and that is where we come in.

What does our 3 Hour emergency lighting test involve?

• Overview of your emergency lighting system against current British Standards
• Test all your emergency lights including visual inspection of the condition, charging and cleaning, if required.
• Functionality of light & EMG key switches
• Take reading of lux levels through the 3 hour time period
• inform you and record deficiencies found and recommend action points
• Record all lighting points and gather data into a logbook
• issue you with an emergency lighting Certificate.
